Welcome back! We're so excited to kick off the 2026–2027 piano year with you!
This year, we're taking our music on a wild adventure — using animals as our inspiration for every piece we play, building all the way up to our showcase recital in June 2027. We'll be partnering with the wonderful folks at Newhouse Wildlife Rescue in Chelmsford, MA, to get to know some misunderstood neighbors: fisher cats, coyotes, foxes, and opossums. These creatures get a bad reputation, but they're far from the "evil" animals we sometimes make them out to be — and those assumptions have real consequences for the world around us. As we learn how these stereotypes have hurt local wildlife, we'll gently explore something bigger too: how easy it is to jump to conclusions about people, just like we do with animals.
Along the way, your student will get to explore some truly wonderful music, including Robert Schumann's Bear Dance, Florence Price's Field Mice, and Charles Shadle's The Wolf (Nashoba). We can't wait to spend another year making music together — one key, one story, and one open mind at a time!
